HARRISBURG, Pa. — State and local officials planted 33 new trees in Harrisburg on Tuesday as part of a $500,000 statewide effort to expand community tree cover and reduce stormwater runoff.
The planting was one of dozens supported by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources this fall through the TreePennsylvania Bare-Root Tree Program, which is supplying 1,100 trees to 51 communities. The department said the investment is intended to bring more shade, cleaner air, and improved quality of life to neighborhoods across the state.
