HARRISBURG — State utility officials say December will bring both higher and lower electric supply prices depending on the provider. The PUC says most regulated utilities will raise rates, including Duquesne Light, Met-Ed, Penelec, Penn Power, West Penn, PECO, and PPL, while Wellsboro Electric and UGI Electric will decrease prices. PPL’s rate will increase +3.7%. Citizens Electric could see a decrease in their rates.
The PUC says consumers should review bills now, contact utilities early, and ask about payment plans, CAPs, and budget billing. Officials also urge small conservation steps like lowering thermostats, sealing drafts, and checking furnace filters. Residents can compare suppliers at PAPowerSwitch.com.
