Bethesda Mission sees spike in need after Tent City demolition

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — An all-men’s homeless shelter in Harrisburg is feeling the weight of a growing need this Thanksgiving, just weeks after the city’s Tent City encampment was demolished.

Bethesda Mission says the demand for shelter and support has risen sharply as dozens of displaced residents search for a safe place to go.

Norman Brown, a resident at Bethesda Mission, calls the shelter a lifeline. “The best kept secret in Pennsylvania is the Bethesda Mission,” Brown said. “They not only feed you physically, but they feed you spiritually.”…
