When Amberlee Dressler talks about cats, her voice carries the calm assurance of someone who’s spent decades caring for them — and the urgency of someone who knows there’s still much more to do.
Dressler, a certified veterinary technician since 2006, recently launched For the Cats, a nonprofit dedicated to trap-neuter-return (TNR) work for feral felines across Perry County. What began as a lifelong passion for animal health has grown into a mission to control cat overpopulation, prevent disease, and help community members who otherwise have no way to manage feral colonies on their property.
“I’ve been a technician for 22 years,” Dressler said. “I’ve worked in general practice, emergency, and with the Department of Agriculture. I’ve always wanted to do TNR, but in a mobile setting because a lot of people can’t do it themselves. They might be elderly or have no way to catch or transport the cats.”…
