Harrisburg homeless shelters preparing for winter weather

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — The city of Harrisburg has multiple homeless shelters open throughout the year, but with the snowy weather inbound, shelters are gearing up to help more than they normally do. Some of the shelters are already at their capacity, including the Bethesda Mission Men’s Shelter, which claims it has been at its capacity for years.

“We’ve been in capacity for about the last three years straight,” said Bill Christian, Director of the Men’s Shelter.

But despite being at capacity, Christian says the shelter continues to do everything it can to service those in need. Bethesda Mission works closely with other shelters in the Harrisburg area including Downtown Daily Bread and the Susquehanna Harbor Safe Haven…
