DEP issues ‘Code Orange’ for area, expects higher-than-usual air pollution Sunday

(WHTM) — Sunday will be a “Code Orange Air Quality Action Day” for some area counties, as state officials expect pollutants to be higher than normal.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) issued the declaration for Dauphin, Cumberland, Lebanon, Lancaster, and York counties.

“Very light winds will limit any pollutant dispersion and mixing tonight into Sunday, with PM 2.5 concentrations expected to be in the code ORANGE range,” DEP says. “Air quality should improve Sunday evening as a cold front is expected to pass, increasing surface flow.”…
