HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — The faithful in Harrisburg welcomed a new Torah to the Chisuk Emuna Synagogue on Sunday.
Congregants took part in writing the scroll, described as a once-in-a-generation experience.
“A Torah scroll is really one of the hearts of the Jewish community,” Rabbi Ron Muroff said. “Each Torah scroll is handcrafted. It’s not something you can print, it’s something that has to be written by an individual who is skilled in making such a scroll. There are various rules about the parchment and the ink.”…
