YORK, Pa. — After a difficult year for nonprofits fighting drug abuse in York County, many of them received an early Christmas gift this week in the form of much-needed money.
York County awarded $3.3 million in grants to 14 local nonprofits from the nationwide settlement reached in 2022 with pharmaceutical giants like Johnson & Johnson over their role in the opioid epidemic.
One of the nonprofits is Friends & Neighbors of Pennsylvania in York, where Dylan Sautter serves as the special populations advocate. Sautter had only been spending two days a week assisting people in substance abuse recovery and those coming out of prison, but that will now become a full-time role thanks to $75,980 in funding awarded to Friends & Neighbors to support his position…
