Resident jumps from second floor to escape overnight house fire; 7 displaced

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A man jumped from the second floor to escape a duplex fire that broke out early New Year’s Day, and multiple others were rescued thanks to the help of York firefighters.

The fire was reported around 12:12 a.m. Thursday in the first block of North Ogontz Street, and emergency dispatchers said crews arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the home.

Greater York Professional Firefighters confirmed that one person jumped from a window, and firefighters were able to help multiple others to safety using a ground ladder…
