Local parents, hospitals welcome New Year’s babies

(WHTM) — New Year’s Day 2026 will forever be special for numerous Midstate couples and the New Year’s babies they welcomed into the world.

As celebrations were well underway at various New Year’s events, mothers at hospitals across the region welcomed their “New Year’s babies,” the first of 2026 at their respective hospitals.

Just 30 minutes into the new year, WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital and mom Katelyn, from the Cornwall area, welcomed baby Zoey Skye Lynn. She was born at 12:30 a.m., WellSpan shared.

A few minutes later in Lititz, UPMC Magee-Womens at UPMC Lititz and parents Jacey and Hunter Rehrer, of Bainbridge welcomed Julia Rehrer at 12:33 a.m.

On the West Shore, a Harrisburg couple welcomed their child at Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center.
