Woman faces arson charges in connection to New Year’s Day fire that displaced 5 people

YORK, Pa. — A woman is facing arson charges after she allegedly started a fire at a York County home that displaced five people on New Year’s Day, according to court documents.

Kathryn Frankel, 43, of York allegedly started a fire in the basement of a duplex on North Ogontz Street in Spring Garden Township by using a heat gun.

According to police, emergency services were dispatched at 12:12 a.m. to a duplex on North Ogontz Street for a reported fire. The fire reportedly originated in the basement and extended upward, causing fire, smoke and water damage to that home and another attached home on Wayne Avenue…
