HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) — Police in Harrisburg were called to Melrose Elementary Tuesday afternoon after a nearby incident possibly involving a gun prompted the school to go on lockdown, officials said.
District officials said a lockdown was initiated after an incident in the community made its way onto school grounds.
As the altercation unfolded, an individual reported the possibility of a gun being involved. Out of an abundance of caution, the principal and staff followed District procedures and protocols, and safely brought students back into the building, at which time a lockdown was implemented.
