Pig escapes from truck in Lancaster County, naps along road: ‘She avoided a bad ending’

An escaped pig caused some amusement Thursday in Manheim Township after it was found chilling on a grassy area near the Route 30 interchange at New Holland Pike.

Manheim Township police Sgt. Barry Waltz said the pig somehow got off a transport vehicle and, well, “just chilled there with us,” police officers and some other people who stopped until staff with the Lancaster Farm Sanctuary arrived to take it away.

“I was watching through the body camera of one of the police officers and it was munching on the grass and eventually laid down and fell asleep,” Waltz said…
