Police: York County woman allegedly stole $60K from elderly man

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Charges have been filed against a York County woman who police say stole more than $60,000 from an elderly man with dementia in her care.

Sheila Thoms, 69, of North Codorus Township, faces charges of forgery, financial exploitation of an older adult, and theft. Police allege that she fraudulently withdrew funds from her 77-year-old domestic partner’s accounts.

According to court documents, police were notified of the alleged theft by the man’s daughter, who reported that he had dementia and lived with Thoms. The victim’s daughter told police that due to health issues, her father was transferred to a nursing home…
