YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A York County Sheriff’s K9 died days ahead of his scheduled retirement, the office announced Monday.
K9 Khan, whose full name was Lieutenant Khan Vom Spektefeld, participated in drug busts, located firearms and joined tracking missions over his eight years with the office. One major bust in 2023 fetched 60 grams of cocaine off the street.
He was set to retire at the end of this month. However, the office said he died Sunday, Jan. 11, after experiencing a sudden medical condition.
“K9 Khan left us surrounded by his loyal handler, Sgt. Brian Rohrbaugh, along with the entire York County Sheriff’s Office K9 Team and other supporters,” the office said in a social media post announcing his death…
