The FOX43 Weather Impact Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert Sunday, from 4am to 4pm, as light snow showers push through south-central PA. While accumulations are again generally light for the area, some locations east could see totals up to 3″ by the midday.
Our next shot of unseasonably cold air arrives to end the weekend and will bring with it more light snow Sunday morning before tapering in the afternoon. Timing and impacts will vary from west to east; with areas west of I-81 likely seeing light snow showers develop before sunrise, and tapering by mid-morning. Areas east of I-81, especially York, Lancaster and Lebanon counties, holding on to light snow through the early afternoon.
For those locations west, a general coating to perhaps an inch is possible. For counties further east, a better chance of 1-3″ exists while snow showers hang on a bit longer.
In addition to our Weather Impact Alert, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for York and Lancaster counties from 3am – 3pm Sunday.
While totals are generally light, especially west of Harrisburg, surface temperatures will be below freezing through our Sunday with slick travel likely until showers taper in the afternoon.
