DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Several fire crews were called Thursday afternoon to a frozen pond on Station Road in East Hanover Township to help rescue a trapped horse.
At the scene, the horse was found trapped in the frozen waters, and a rope was quickly secured around it, according to the Grantville Volunteer Fire Company.
After slicing through the ice, team members were able to safely guide the horse through the frigid waters to the surface, where it was taken to a nearby barn, quickly dried off, and given medicine. Farm staff continued caring for the horse to ensure its recovery…
