Fines for un-shoveled sidewalks being issued in York; other cities to follow

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — As snow cleanup continues across central Pennsylvania, city leaders are reminding residents that if you aren’t shoveling your sidewalk, you may be shoveling over your cash.

York is the first city in the area to begin enforcement of snow and ice removal requirements. As of this morning, Mayor Sandie Walker instructed city inspectors to begin issuing tickets to homeowners who have not cleared the sidewalk around their property.

Fines start at $25, but fluctuate based on the number of tickets a property owner has received in the past year…
