Injured hiker rescued from mountainous Cumberland County trail in freezing weather

Fire officials and rescue services were called out amid freezing temperatures on Monday to rescue a hiker in Cumberland County.

According to a post from the Monroe Fire Company, a call came in around 5:45 p.m. about an injured hiker at White Rock Acres Trail in Boiling Springs. The hiker had fallen at the trail’s lookout and had injured their leg.

Due to the trail’s mountainous terrain, the fire company said it needed to call in additional resources. Responders located the hiker using a drone and sent UTVs to deliver supplies and get help as quickly as possible…
