A Dauphin County judge dismissed Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams’ lawsuit over this year’s budget, ruling that City Council was acting within its power to defund four key positions in the mayor’s administration.
Late last year, Williams vetoed the budget approved by council that defunded the four positions. The council overrode her vetoes prompting the city to lay off three of the four workers who were being paid by the city. The fourth stayed on in a reduced salary that is funded federally.
The mayor then turned to the courts to challenge council’s cuts. The lawsuit cost taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars to hire private attorneys for both parties…
