Answers sought decades after woman’s body found by Pennsylvania fisherman

PERRY COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Investigators are still seeking answers surrounding a 1980s homicide case where a woman’s decapitated body was found near a Perry County river.

The last time anyone reported seeing 31-year-old Edna Posey alive was May 26, 1984, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

A fisherman along the Juniata River found Posey’s body the next day. Investigators say she was decapitated and all four of her limbs were removed from her body. She would go unidentified for a year until her ex-sister-in-law reported her missing.

Investigators say Donald Ruby was initially convicted and sentenced to life following an 11-day trial in February 1987; however, he did get a second trial in 1993 after he appealed, after which he was acquitted.
