PENNSYLVANIA — A winter weather advisory is in effect Tuesday evening for parts of central and eastern Pennsylvania, including Sullivan, Columbia, Schuylkill, and Lebanon counties, with slippery conditions expected to develop across the region.
According to the National Weather Service, periods of light freezing rain are forecast from 6 p.m. to midnight Tuesday, with a light glaze of ice possible. The advisory includes the cities of Pottsville, Berwick, Bloomsburg, Laporte, and Lebanon.
Forecasters say the primary concern will be slick spots on roads, bridges, overpasses, sidewalks, and driveways, particularly during the evening hours as temperatures hover near or below freezing. Even small amounts of ice can create hazardous travel conditions.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission are urging motorists to slow down and adjust speeds based on conditions, noting that untreated surfaces may become icy quickly.
