Land used for a temporary Broad Street Market tent was free. Now Harrisburg has to pay

When Harrisburg’s historic Red Brick Building of the Broad Street Market burnt down in 2023, it displaced more than a dozen vendors.

Silverstone Enterprises, associated with nearby Millworks, stepped up to help, leasing a tract of land for the city to erect a temporary tent on at no cost to the city. The city just had to pay property taxes.

The lease began in January 2024, with plans to end the lease as soon as a Certificate of Occupancy for the entire Red Brick Building was issued or at the end of 2025, whichever came first…
