PennDOT announces vehicle restrictions ahead of winter weather

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WKBN) — PennDOT has announced multiple speed restrictions ahead of Tuesday’s forecasted winter weather.

Tier 1 restrictions prohibit tractors without trailers, tractors towing unloaded, lightly loaded, or tandem trailers, passenger vehicles towing trailers, RVs, buses without chains, and motorcycles.

Tier 1 restrictions will go into effect at 3:00 a.m. Tuesday for the following roadways:

  • I-80 from I-79 to Exit 173
  • I-99, entire length

Tier 1 restrictions will go into effect at 6:00 a.m. Tuesday for the following roadways:

  • I-80 from Exit 173 to the New Jersey border
  • I-81 from I-78 to the New York border
  • I-84, entire length
  • I-180 from I-80 to U.S. 220
  • I-380, entire length
  • U.S. 322 from I-99 to I-81
