AME Church responds after Harrisburg-area reverend’s arrest

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — The First Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church is responding after a Harrisburg-area reverend was arrested for alleged child sex crimes.

Michael McMullen, 68, of Harrisburg, was asked to step down when they first learned of allegations in November 2025, according to a statement on Wednesday from the church.

“Our churches are sacred spaces and must remain safe havens for all, especially children andvulnerable individuals,” the statement reads. “We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for sexual misconduct of any kind. Such conduct, if proven, is wholly inconsistent with our faith, our values, and the sacred trust placed in clergy leadership.”…
