Harrisburg council asks court to fine mayor $1,000/day for violating budget agreement

Harrisburg City Council is accusing Mayor Wanda Williams of violating their Feb. 10 agreement that ended weeks of legal feuding over the 2026 budget.

In the budget compromise, Williams had agreed to appoint department heads with the advice and consent of the city council. She also agreed to stop appointing “interim” department heads in her administration.

But she’s not followed through on that, city council said in court documents filed Friday, asking Dauphin County Judge Jeffrey Engle to find her in contempt of court for violating the agreement…
