Harrisburg mayor ‘surprised’ by contempt order filed by city council over interim position

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) — Mayor Wanda Williams’ office said it was “both surprised and disappointed” to learn of the contempt motion filed by Harrisburg City Council on Friday.

The motion accused Williams of violating an agreement by keeping an “interim” director on staff and allegedly refusing to allow city council to vote to officially appoint a person in that role.
