At 3:46 a.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued an updated flood warning in effect until 7 a.m. for Lawrence and Mercer counties.
The weather service informs, “Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.”
“Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring,” states the weather service. “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.”
