The Blotter | Obstructed license plate leads to arrest

An early morning traffic stop on June 4 led to an arrest for possession of suspected amphetamine. Piedmont Police pulled over a blue Volkswagen Jetta at approximately 3:14 a.m. near Highland and Moraga avenues due to what Captain Chris Monahan said was a license plate that “appeared to be tampered with making it unreadable.”

The driver was found to be on probation, according to Captain Monahan, and police also saw a pipe in the vehicle. He said more pipes were found as well as nine grams of suspected amphetamine. The suspect was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin for a violation of his probation, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The vehicle was towed.

On May 29, a stolen vehicle was found on Mountain Boulevard in Oakland at 9:11 p.m. According to an employee at the gas station where the vehicle was found, a suspect had left the vehicle on foot. A male suspect matching the description was found nearby on Mountain…
