Geoff Davis, the chef behind 2024 F&W Restaurant of the Year Burdell, is ready for his second act.
Since he opened the soul food restaurant Burdell in Oakland in 2023, Geoff Davis has been going nonstop. He’s earned just about every industry accolade for his creative and ingredient-driven menu, including Food & Wine’s Restaurant of the Year 2024, and a spot in Esquire’s Best New Restaurant list in 2023. He was also in the running for the James Beard Best Chef: California award in 2024 and 2026.
This year, Davis is likely to get a whole lot busier. The acclaimed chef confirmed to Food & Wine that he has signed a lease to open a second restaurant in Oakland. It will be a cozy neighborhood bar and grill called Uncle’s, slated to open in spring 2027.
