(KRON) — A police pursuit of a wrong-way driver on I-580 shut down traffic temporarily on Thursday. All eastbound and westbound lanes were temporarily blocked.
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office told KRON4 that at 11:25 a.m., a deputy attempted to stop a blue Ford Mustang for a traffic violation and the driver refused to stop.

Deputies did not pursue the Mustang, but it was found using Automated License Plate Reader technology. A drone was deployed to track the car and it was spotted driving westbound on the eastbound lanes of I-580.
While headed the wrong way, the car crashed into another vehicle before continuing to flee. The CHP Hayward was in the vicinity and attempted to a high-risk stop.
The Mustang, police said, continued to flee before becoming disabled and coming to a stop. Initially, both occupants refused commands to get out of the vehicle. The freeway was temporarily closed in both directions while deputies worked to resolve the incident…
