For the first time, storied Bay Area seafood farm and restaurant business Hog Island Oyster Co. is expanding to the East Bay. Hog Island plans to open a new oyster bar in Lafayette in early 2027, according to a news release.
The company, which started as an oyster farm in 1983 in Tomales Bay, currently operates four oyster bars in Marshall, Napa, Larkspur, and San Francisco, as well as Tony’s Seafood Restaurant in Marshall and a pick-up window in Petaluma. They have two oyster farms, located in Humboldt Bay and Tomales Bay, and harvest and sell over 5 million oysters and Manila clams each year, according to their website.
The Lafayette oyster bar is slated to open at 3596 Mount Diablo Boulevard, in the former Barranco Cocina Peruana space, it said in its news releasex. As of publication time, the Peruvian restaurant, which opened in 2017, has not yet announced its permanent closure — only a temporary closure for “maintenance.”…
