California authorities have cleared a large homeless encampment in Berkeley after two people contracted leptospirosis, a potentially deadly bacterial disease linked to rat urine.
The disease was traced to conditions around an RV near the Harrison Street encampment, where officials had been dealing with a serious rat infestation.
