San Mateo man arrested in connection with hit-and-run, home burglary

A hit-and-run investigation in San Mateo on Saturday led to the arrest of a 21-year-old who reportedly broke into a nearby home after fleeing the car wreck, police said.

The collision happened at about 2:23 a.m. on the 200 block of West 40th Avenue, according to the San Mateo Police Department. A witness reported seeing a man running from a Nissan Altima, which was identified as a stolen vehicle, police said.

Officers responded about 25 minutes later to a burglary on a nearby block after a homeowner reported a man had entered his residence and was rummaging through a drawer. The burglar fled from the house after the homeowner confronted him, police said…
