The Alameda County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting Thursday to provide an update on the sale of the Oakland Coliseum to a group of private developers and investors after months of delay, potentially paving the way for a final deal on the site.
The meeting, scheduled for 3 p.m., comes nearly two months after supervisors directed county attorneys to negotiate a deal allowing the African American Sports and Entertainment Group to buy the Athletics’ share of the 112-acre Coliseum complex, which includes the stadium, the Arena, administrative offices and acres of parking. After a closed session with county attorneys, the president of the board, David Haubert, will provide an update to the public, according to the agenda.
AASEG struck a deal with the A’s last year to buy the team’s half of the Coliseum for $125 million , but the sale required approval from the county supervisors. The team bought the county’s share of the site in 2019 for $85 million and was still in the process of paying for it…
