Police catch Northern California driver using dummy in carpool lane

(FOX40.COM) — The California Highway Patrol is reminding drivers of the proper way to use high-occupancy vehicle lanes on the freeway after a driver was caught with a dummy in his passenger seat.

“While we appreciate the creativity, HOV lanes are reserved for specific vehicles or with two or more real, breathing passengers to reduce traffic congestion and promote carpooling,” CHP said on social media .

Photos from the incident show a driver holding a peace sign with a life-size dummy fully clothed in the passenger seat. The dummy was wearing a hat over its head, giving the illusion of sleeping.
