Northern California to Prepare for Heavy Rain, Strong Winds, and Snow Next Week

SACRAMENTO, CA – Northern California is set to experience a major shift in weather next week, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, and significant snowfall to the Sierra, according to the National Weather Service Sacramento office.

According to the National Weather Service Sacramento, a strong trough will move in from the Gulf of Alaska starting Tuesday, with widespread precipitation expected by Wednesday morning.

Through the weekend, Sacramento and the Central Valley will see dry, mild conditions with highs in the 60s to low 70s, according to the National Weather Service Sacramento office. However, by late Tuesday, wind gusts up to 45 mph are forecast along the Sierra, with Valley gusts reaching 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service Sacramento office.
