(FOX40.COM) — Two people were rescued after a roof collapsed at a Northern California grocery store Monday afternoon.
Around 2:30 p.m., the Modesto Fire Department, the Oakdale Police Department, and Oak Valley Ambulance responded to Cost Less Food Company on N. Yosemite Avenue in Oakdale for a 20X20-foot roof collapse in the front right corner of the store.
First responders said two people were in the immediate area of the collapse when it happened, but both were safely removed from the area before they arrived. One person was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for medical care.
The collapse damaged fire sprinkler pipes, resulting in a significant water release into the store, according to MFD. Video footage shows the roof collapsing and the store in disarray after the incident . Emergency crews cleared the scene, and the business was closed down until further notice…
