A Bay Area man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of strangling his mother, San Mateo County authorities said.
The 67-year-old woman reported the alleged attack to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office at about 6 p.m. Friday, saying her 37-year-old son had strangled her at their home in Half Moon Bay. The woman had “visible injuries” and was given medical care, according to the agency.
Deputies learned that the woman’s son, whom jail records identify as Robert Anthony Cuellar, was under the influence of drugs and potentially experiencing a mental health crisis, the sheriff’s office said.
