19-year-old motorcyclist killed in Highway 1 crash

A teenage motorcyclist from Milpitas was killed Saturday after a collision on southbound Highway 1 near Laguna Road. The crash closed Highway 1 in both directions for several hours.

The 19-year-old was riding a yellow 2005 Suzuki motorcycle around 1 p.m. when he crashed into the back of a red 2011 Mini Cooper. He was thrown from his motorcycle, landing on the ground. Despite his helmet and medical personnel’s attempts at life-saving care, the motorcyclist died on the scene. California Highway Patrol did not provide the name of the victim.

The driver of the Mini Cooper was a 24-year-old woman from San Jose. She was transported to a hospital by ambulance and treated for minor injuries…
