A rare whale was beached in low tide near the Emeryville Marina on Tuesday afternoon, leading to marine mammal specialists decision to euthanize the creature.
The suspected juvenile Minke whale, a species that has only been spotted in the San Francisco Bay five times since 2009 if this instance is confirmed, was seen repeatedly in the shallow waters in the days before, the Marine Mammal Center said.
