Legendary California Italian restaurant known for Prime Rib to Close After Four Decades

ANTIOCH, CA — A beloved East Bay institution is preparing for its final service. Mac’s Old House, a classic Italian restaurant known for hearty portions of prime rib and minestrone soup, will close its doors on June 22 after 42 years, the owners announced on social media.

Opened in 1983, the Antioch favorite was inspired by the historic Bertola’s chain, which once spanned the Bay Area. Housed in a 100-year-old building originally converted into a bar by Floyd “Mac” McKinney in 1956, the spot has served over three million meals.
