San Francisco, a city known for its leadership in environmental initiatives, has taken another step forward in its journey toward a sustainable future with the installation of the first public curbside electric vehicle (EV) chargers. These chargers are part of a new pilot program aiming to accelerate the transition to clean transportation. In a display of the city’s commitment to increasing EV accessibility, these chargers have been activated at 55 Fillmore Street, as reported by the San Francisco Environment Department (SFE).
Presided over by Board of Supervisors President Rafael Mandelman, the celebration marked the collaborative effort of the SFE, San Francisco Public Works, and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), alongside climate tech innovator’s electric. With the city’s mayor hailing the installations, Daniel Lurie noted, per the San Francisco Environment Department, “Making it easier to drive electric vehicles is a critical step towards achieving our climate goals,” emphasizing the streamlined permit process that facilitated this development.
