SAN FRANCISCO ( KRON ) — Luxury spa Burke Williams will close its San Francisco City Centre mall location permanently on Monday. Earlier this year, the spa announced it would be closing down, citing safety concerns .
The decision to close the spa, “comes as the city’s failure to address the growing safety concerns and deteriorating conditions in the downtown area, which has made it impossible for the spa to continue operating,” a spokesperson told KRON4 at the time.

Once San Francisco’s flagship shopping mall, the SF City Centre — formerly the Westfield — has seen a raft of closures over the past two years. In August of 2023, the mall’s anchor tenant, Nordstrom, closed after more than three decades at the mall.
Since then, there has been a steady stream of store closures at the mall and in the surrounding Union Square district. A Burke Williams spokesperson cited the closure of Nordstrom and the mall’s other anchor tenant, Bloomingdale’s, saying the closure of the stores had made the situation “untenable.”…
