Every April, School Library Month is celebrated nationally. At Amador, our librarians are booked and busy, providing resources and support to students and teachers alike.
“[The library] is a safe place for everybody. This is a comfortable place for anybody to go. Everybody comes to the library when they need help,” said library assistant Lisa Kroll.
Before the Books
Although they have now found their place amongst students and books, Amador’s librarians were not always shelving and cataloging. Erik Scherer worked as a teacher at Irvington High School. Ms. Kroll was a corporate buyer for a hardware chain and a mother.
“I was home with my kids for a really long time, so I decided that I wanted to be part of other kids’ lives… I love books, and I love students. So it’s a pretty easy fix,” said Kroll.…
