Search for Missing Redwood City Senior with Dementia Enters ‘Limited Continuous Search’ Phase

The ongoing search for 79-year-old Margaret “Elaine” McKinley who has been missing since last Thursday after a hike in the Windy Hill Open Space Preserve has now transitioned into a “Limited Continuous Search” phase, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office reported, a change that represents a scaled-down but sustained effort to find the Redwood City resident diagnosed with dementia. When she was last seen on the Lost Trail, McKinley wore a red jacket and black pants.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office indicated that daily updates will likely cease henceforward; however, they will continue to share significant developments in McKinley’s search and ask the public to keep an eye out and report any sightings directly to 911, as detailed by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office has reviewed more than 25 cameras installed on trails, and both private and public property residents have come together to provide doorbell and security footage in solidarity…
