Oakland restaurant Pierre Pierre hasn’t paid rent in over a year, Tribune Tower landlord says

The future of Pierre Pierre, the Oakland restaurant where two customers were recently wounded in a shooting, remains uncertain. But The Oaklandside has learned that Pierre Pierre’s owners were recently given a 3-day notice to vacate by their landlord, HighBridge Equity Partners. According to a spokesperson for the Tribune Tower, the restaurant was originally asked to make good on more than a year’s worth of unpaid rent or move out on April 24. But an error in the notice required the landlord to resubmit and serve the restaurant owner once again on May 6.

The rent dispute piles more problems on the restaurant’s owners. Co-owner Cleashaun Hill told The Oaklandside in a text message they are still “reeling from the trauma of witnessing violence in a place that was supposed to be safe,” keep staff together, and console customers.

What happened at Pierre Pierre?

According to the East Bay Times, a 31-year-old woman from Oakland and a 24-year-old man from Richmond were “hit by the spray of gunfire” while dining on the evening of May 2. According to the Oakland Police Department, both victims remain in stable condition.

Since the shooting, Hill, who owns the establishment with Florida rapper Pierre Delince, also known as Jackboy, started a $50,000 GoFundMe that was $10,000 away from reaching its goal as of this week…
