Fremont Break-In and Attempted Arson Suspect Apprehended with Help of Drone and K-9 Unit

Chaos erupted in a Fremont neighborhood when a residential burglary turned into an attempted arson, ending with a suspect in custody thanks to the combined efforts of police technology and a K-9 unit. On Monday, Fremont Police Department officers responded to reports of a break-in on Fremont Boulevard, according to a social media post from the Fremont Police Department.

A witness caught Michael Bullock, a 38-year-old Fremont resident, breaking into a home and promptly alerted authorities. As officers encircled the residence, a UAV, or drone, was deployed to gain an aerial view of the area. Suspense grew as officers, using a loudspeaker, repeatedly instructed Bullock to exit the building. There was silence at first, then a sudden dash as he fled toward the back of the property.

The police’s UAV tracked Bullock, providing real-time updates during the chase. He eventually concealed himself in not-so-concealing tall grass and disregarded officers’ pleas to surrender. As flames flickered from his attempts to ignite the grassy hideout, law enforcement decided to employ their K-9 unit…
