Five people injured in Antioch fireworks explosion

(KRON) — Five people were injured in a fireworks explosion on the 2200 block of Spanos Street in Antioch around 12:18 a.m. Saturday, according to the Contra Costa Fire Protection District.

The Antioch Police Department, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, and paramedics responded to the emergency. Contra Costa Fire Assistant Chief Tracie Dutter told KRON4 that one person was critically injured in the blast. Four others were hospitalized with minor injuries.

“Antioch PD is working to find and speak with all individuals involved regarding this incident,” Antioch PD said. “This is an unfortunate accident, and our thoughts are with the family and all those affected during this difficult time. We ask for patience and privacy for the families as the investigation continues.”
