Oakland bar announces its closing after close call with shooting, slams city officials

(KRON) — A bar and event space in downtown Oakland that features DJs and community dinner parties is closing after a close call with a shooting and has placed the blame squarely on city officials. In an Instagram post earlier this week, Couchdate announced it is leaving downtown Oakland and why.

In the post, Couchdate owner Emmanuel Singh explained that on May 6, he was “unloading groceries into Couchdate, and there was a shooting right in front of our doors.” One of the bullets ricocheted off Singh’s car.

According to Singh he was OK and none of the bar’s staff were hurt. However, he said two other people were shot and injured…
